What can an AI agent actually do in a factory?
In a factory, an AI agent decides autonomously within limits your team sets. Concretely, it can raise a maintenance work-order from live telemetry, release or quarantine a batch from vision data, raise a purchase request from consumption data, or recommend the next job on a machine. Line stops, statutory audit-facing entries, sourcing decisions for new vendors, and any change to the agent’s own policy are hard-stopped as human-only. This is a deliberate design choice, not a technical limit. Agents that ignore this boundary produce audit trails nobody trusts.
